After the Munich olympiad Aicher continued working with other clients with whom he had been working simultaneously during the Munich project. Notable amongst these was Bayerische Rüeckversicherung, for whom he produced a number of books related to their exhibition series. He worked for other major German companies including Bulthaup, Dresdner Bank, Gruner + Jahr, Frankfurt and Munich airports, Sparkasse, West LB. One of the longest of these collaborations was with the lighting manufacturer ERCO, whose identity Aicher designed. ERCO were instrumental in working with Aicher to extend the range of pictorial symbols from the initial 180 required for Munich to nearly 1,000 available today. The Rotis type family was another major collaboration which continues in widespread use internationally. One of the few British organisations with whom Aicher worked was Norman Foster's architectural practice. Foster invited Aicher to collaborate on projects in Hong Kong, Japan, and Spain, |
